About Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCT)
BCT begins to work as the therapist orients to the deep energy flows in the client’s craniosacral system, simultaneously holding a profound awareness of the whole body/mind system. She listens though a gentle touch and a resonant relationship begins to grow. As trust is established, holding forces are released, structures and energy are realigned, and healing begins. The results? Ease of movement, improved alignment, pain relief, release of tension and holding patterns, improved immune system, improved organization and focus, and an overall sense of well-being.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Who can benefit from Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
Because BCT is non invasive, there are very few contraindications for treatment and I have seen all age groups from infants to geriatrics benefit. One of the mainstays of BCT is to facilitate health in the brain and central nervous system; something that can help to lessen or prevent chronic conditions. The biodynamic approach of this therapy bolsters the whole system, and fosters a safe environment for the body to gain new perspectives and a healthy resolution of issues.
What about infants and toddlers?
My overwhelming experience is that children of all ages have a positive respond to BCT because it is innately gentle and non-invasive. As a child develops trust, they get very used to the sessions, and often share their experience with the treatment through their movement and sounds. Even small children quickly get used to the work as they develop trust in their practitioner. I always incorporate playtime in sessions Parents are and also often see children become totally relaxed and even fall asleep by the end of the session.
How many sessions can I anticipate needing?
Of course this varies from person to person, what your presenting symptoms are and how readily you respond to sessions. Generally speaking, for most people anywhere from three to ten sessions will have a positive impact on most people’s health, and some people feel a big difference after only one session. There are clients who do want ongoing regular sessions.
Does insurance cover this service and what are my options for payment?
I made the decision many years ago not to participate in any insurance plans. The decision not to accept insurance stems from my commitment to practice with integrity and preserve the quality of care provided. Insurance companies operate on a narrow medical model, always requiring a medical diagnosis/illness to establish you have a “medical necessity” to seek services and in order for them to pay providers. Wellness and preventive care, a cornerstone of my practice is taboo in the insurance world, and a diagnosis would have to be assigned to be reimbursed for our work together, even when there may not be one that really fits the symptoms etc. Offering services outside the realm of the insurance industry affords us all a level of mutual self-determination; we are free to use the best therapeutic approaches to meet your goals, and together, we are the only ones involved in the decision about the type, frequency and length of your care
As an out of network provider, I will provide you with a paid bill that you can submit to your carrier for potential partial or full reimbursement. Your amount of potential coverage depends on the terms of your individual policy. Additionally, Physical Therapy is considered a covered service by the IRS (publication 502) and my services may be eligible for reimbursement from flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), health reimbursement accounts (HRA), dependent care flexible spending accounts ( DCFSA) and limited care flexible spending accounts ( LCFSA)

What is BCT good for?
The most common issues that adults will seek out BCT are for pain relief, chronic disease, concussion and traumatic brain injury, depleted immune system, body alignment, TMJ and tinnitus. Infants and children who suffer from autism, sleeping issues, speech or feeding and swallowing disorders, reflux, torticollis and plagiocephaly can also benefit. Recently I have been having success with BCT in helping to heal from COVID and its residual effects.
